LCAP

LCAP OVERVIEW - AN ANIMATED OVERVIEW

What is an LCAP?

An LCAP is a Local Control and Accountability Plan that every school district, charter school, and county office of education in California must prepare and update annually². It is a three-year plan that describes the goals, actions, services, and expenditures to support positive student outcomes that address state and local priorities²⁴.

An LCAP is a way for an LEA (local educational agency) to share its story of how, what, and why programs and services are selected to meet the needs of its students². It also allows the public to evaluate and compare schools based on various indicators¹. An LCAP must be approved by the school board after public comment and reviewed by the county office of education⁴.
